Meraka Institute's Human Language Technologies (HLT) research[edit source]
By mid 2009 they will have some useful tools in addition to Dictionary Maker, ....
Their focus is on southern African but the tools may be adapted for languages elsewhere.
Alongside translation, would an "audio appropedia" be of interest? The MobilED project is being taken in new directions and maybe this community would like to find innovaive new directions for the Text To Speech (TTS) access via mobile phones?
