Appropedia's software is robust and readily forgives small errors. Others will quickly become aware that there is a new page, [1] greet you and offer you help and advice.

  1. Set up a user account . It's not required, but it does provide some useful benefits . You can of course use a pseudonym if you do not want to be recognized.
  2. Click on a topic or area of ​​interest in the navigation column on the left. You will find instructions to help you create your article.
  3. It's easy. Visit our playground and practice editing pages.

  5. Don't worry if your article isn't complete, developed or formatted! The other users will be happy to help you. Your contributions and ideas are of the utmost value.

  • Do you have an idea that isn't fully developed yet? No time? Create a concise article called a stub . You or others can expand it over time.
  • Click on the tab labeled "watch" at the top of a page to track all changes to that page on your watch list .
  • Use the "discussion" tab at the top of articles to join or start a discussion about the article.
  • Click on the "versions/authors" tab at the top of articles to view all revisions and authors.
  • If you like the formatting of a page and want to see how it was created, just use the edit button. You can safely leave the editor view by navigating back in your browser. Try it out on the playground .

Appropedia has no hard rules regarding content and formatting, just a few suggestions:

  • A brief description of techniques, their benefits and their application
  • Regional circumstances such as climate, availability of raw materials, etc., as well as cultural, social and political contexts
  • A list of materials and possible alternatives
  • Simple instructions for making technology or materials
  • Possible alternative approaches to making or using technology
  • Common mistakes to avoid when making or using technology
  • Include photos and diagrams to make posts even more interesting and informative
  • Examining the use of technology in a case study
