The "Four Rs" of fertilization consist of four recommendations that you can take into account to increase the yield of your crops. The first recommendation is to choose the correct type of fertilizer. The second recommendation is to use the correct dose of fertilizer. The third recommendation is to apply the fertilizer at the correct time. The fourth recommendation is to apply the fertilizer correctly. Due to her advanced age, Natividad puts ashes on the fertilizer to find out where she has already applied it because her eyesight "is not what it used to be." Natividad is changing the way he fertilized throughout his life with the new knowledge learned in the ASA program, which allows him to save his expenditure on inputs and improve his yields. "You save a lot of money by using only a small cap as a measure, it is buried so that the rain does not carry it away," he explains.Catholic Relief Services (CRS) works with its partners to increase crop yields and incomes for thousands of families, restoring soil health and protecting valuable water resources. More than 40,000 people have been trained to implement these good agricultural practices. More than 3,000 farmers in five countries are now demonstrating the benefits of ASA. Work is being done throughout the region to transform deteriorated agricultural landscapes so that the benefits can be passed on from generation to generation.Photo: Oscar Leiva / Silverlight for CRS
