A parabolicly shaped hole was dug with a shovel; it is 7ft in diameter and almost 5ft deep and permanently aimed to receive direct sunlight on a mid summer's day. It can boil up to 10 gallons of water per hour or alternatively cook 10 gallons of rice per hour (10-GRPH)from 11am - 3pm. Mirror finished aluminum sheets shown here could be replaced with either salvaged pieces of broken glass mirror as a poetic reference to the myth that burying a broken mirror will vanquish an other wise ensuing spell of bad luck lasting for 7 years. If refugee relief funding is available, mirror finished aluminum serving plates could be used both as sun light reflectors, food servers and personal grooming mirrors during early morning and evening. The mirrors are held in place with salvaged nails.
