Portrait of loroco (Fernaldia pandurata) producer, Carlos Alberto Ascencio Cáceres, 29, located at Cantón Río Frío, caserío San Antonio, Ahuachapán, El Salvador. In this land there are 35.7 acres grown with vineyards that produce this edible flower with high demand in the domestic and export markets. The producer is putting into practice soil and water conservation techniques to improve the soil and thus have greater production. Currently in season he harvests 1500 pounds a day of loroco. Carlos is planting canavalia that he uses as stubble and green manure, and he sows live barriers to prevent runoff during the rainy season.

Raíces El Salvador is a comprehensive approach promoted by CRS with Water Smart Agriculture (ASA) practices to restore the agricultural landscape.
