Butterfly Communities" open project — We need a social and cultural movement for a systemic and coherent transition toward a fair civilization.

For this social transformation to take place, what we need first and foremost is to root ourselves into the new metaphysics of the Living Universe, that is based on the last scientific understanding and is conducive to fair and cooperative life strategies.

We can not expect to solve our problems behaving in the same way that created them in the first place.

"Butterfly Communities" is about another way of human organization that starts with another way of human relations, based on more integrative levels of consciousness. It starts with you and your group of friends! You can choose to help each-other; you can choose organize yourselves in economic cooperatives!

The main purpose of our seminars and courses is to assist this development. If we want a systemic transition, we need a true personal transformation that will reshape our relations and our societies. "Butterfly Communities" open-project could become a space of collaboration and fairness, a space of authentic and meaningful life, a living laboratory where we will prototype a better human society.

Only from a Universe-centered consciousness, able to embrace the whole Planet as its new self, can we overcome our social and ecological crisis, aligning our way of living with Life principles.

10xliving — The goal is to discover and develop approaches to community living in small groups of 150 people or less that consume less time, money and natural resources than the status quo while producing a higher quality of life, as measured through an app. This data will be shared freely on social media or for non-profit fees in person for the purpose of learning what does and doesn't work in small communities. In a broader picture, such research over time gathered by an app may help the first 100 people on Mars or the Moon avoid mistakes and copy things that work out particularly well. On earth, it can provide guidance to others wishing to form pockets of sustainable living. These niche-cultures serve as seeds in the larger culture and perhaps 5% of the most successful protocols will make their way back and be adopted over time to the benefit of the larger culture.

109 Moora Rd, Mount Toolebewong VIC 3777, Australia

Moora Moora Co-operative — We are a group of people concerned to develop an alternative to suburban nuclear families living with its particular pressures and limitations. Many of us are discontented with the noise, foul air, water and food of the city, with our polluted environment. We are concerned to get away from the overcrowding of city life. Others are particularly concerned about the isolation and loneliness of suburban living, its increasingly high cost, the narrowness of the isolated nuclear family, the lack of community facilities and co-operative living. We regret the superficiality of our human relationships within the suburban street, living near neighbours we didn't choose, the isolation of the non-working wife and the lack of continuous playmates for the children. Others primarily concerned with education are dissatisfied with the alienation between learning and living as well as with the forms and content of education. They see our intended community as an educational community: a community that finds life and richness in the pursuit of individual and community development.

On Winter Solstice of 2012 (12-21-12) we launched our WholeWAY Home concept. We hosted kindred spirits from all over who wished to stay in a place that supported health and sobriety. You could call it a compound or commune or community, but we just called it our "home," where we rented rooms out to future friends. Breitenbush Community — We are an intentional community and worker-owned cooperative that operates Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat and Conference Center, hosting 25,000 guests annually. Sixty miles east of Salem, Oregon, Breitenbush sits on 155 acres in ancient forests of the Cascades. Our community ranges from 50 – 90 adults and children. We are off the grid, using hydro and geothermal, and practice low-impact Earth stewardship.

The members of the worker-owned cooperative make major decisions about community and business affairs at annual meetings, and elect the board of directors from their midst to oversee operations. The business, financial and marketing directors all work as a team and report to the board. To be a worker-owner, a community member must be employed for one year, be an employee in good standing, and purchase a membership share of $500.

The community lives across the river from the retreat center in an ecovillage setting. We have regular community sharings, and three times a year we close for a four-day community renewal where we join together for training, fun, and community building.

We live a rich, full life here. We delight in an abundance of diverse people, innovative ideas, healing practices, friendships, and challenges.

From our credo: "Our primary service is to provide a healing retreat and conference center that promotes holistic health and spiritual growth. We mutually support and respect each person's dignity, and awaken to the Spirit within each of us that acknowledges we are all One… It is our hope that the thriving Community which we create will be an inspiration to others in their exploration of lifestyle and community. We also extend ourselves to the greater society in which we live, the world community, and commit ourselves to being socially, spiritually, politically, and environmentally responsible."

Respectfulness – we have consulted the Aboriginal Elders of the Wurrendjeri Tribe to basically find out "how we could honour them in our community".  This has been a truly amazing process and has given the project a depth and relevance for revitalising this area with reference to the wisdom of the native people.  We have also commissioned the creation of a land management plan to provide well thought out strategies to revitalise and take care of the neighbouring creekside reserve.

Svanholm — Svanholm is an old estate situated near Skibby north of Roskilde on Zealand. It is home for 65 grownups and 35 children and a lot of guests from around the world. Some have lived here from 1978, but every year between 5 and 10 persons move out and others move in. We live in the buildings in the mansion and in houses in the villages around. We have ecological farming with grain, vegetables, fruit and 100 cows. There are also woodlands, a packing plant for fruit and vegetables, wood factory, eco-building and publishing company.

1/3 of the people work outside Svanholm in ordinary jobs. Svanholm has a shared economy. 80 % of the income from production and work ends up in the common money  box which covers all living expenses. We are trying to make a community where everybody is equal, regardless of sex, education and colour. There is no formal leadership and everybody has a real influence on ones everyday. There is a weekly meeting around the furnace in the mirror-hall. No voting but discussion until agreement (consensus principle).

At the moment we are building more living space for extra 20 adults + children.

Ethnomir — The UNESCO general Declaration of cultural diversity: "Cultural richness of the world – is diversity, revealed in dialogue" was unanimously approved in 2001. The enactment of the Declaration once again proved to the states that intercultural dialogue is the best guarantee for peace, and it raised cultural diversity into the rank of the "common property of the mankind". The Declaration manifested the formation of an open, creative and democratic world, and it became the fundamental document of the new ethics, proposed by UNESCO in XXI century.

Thus, the Public Charity Fund "DIALOGUE OF CULTURES – UNITED WORLD" was created in Moscow as an ardent response to the enactment of the UNESCO general Declaration and to the new Ethics' formation of an open, creative and democratic world. The Fund sees its mission in assistance to integration of the traditional cultures through the development of their individual diversity in dialogue. (You can find more about the Fund on our website: www.ethnomir.ru).

At present time the Fund works over the realization of the "International Ethnic Village" project.

Büyükkonuk — Formerly called Komi Kebir, the village of Büyükkonuk nestles on the foothills of the Five Finger Mountain Range at the start of the narrow panhandle of Cyprus called Karpaz. This geographic location results in a pleasant combination of both hilly terrain and fertile flat lands, with close proximity to both seashores, to the north and the south.

Traditional crops in this agricultural village include carob, olive, wheat, barley and some vegetable farming in watered fields. Dairy cows, sheep and goats are kept. Forested hills border the village, filling the air with scented pine and wild herbs. Many species of trees, including Cypress, juniper and almond, as well as ancient olive groves, dot the landscape. Orchids and other wildflowers abound in season. Plenty of field tracks and the absence of fences make walking and cycling sports attractive.

The ancient village of Buyukkonuk has been selected as a pilot village in the Karpaz for the development of ecotourism. Further accommodation is being planned and a new restaurant and tourist information centre have been opened in 2006.

After visiting ecovillages in Europe, we came home with a quite clear vision which was including LETS, solar panels and permaculture designs. When we arrived in Stanciova – a small village (300 houses) considered poor by any big financial institutions standards, we shifted the dream from technology to the needs of the larger community first. Anarres – Ca' Favale — We never appreciated the ideas and concepts of ecovillages since 2002. Nonetheless, we continued to be present in the list of ecovillages thinking that it could lead to some confrontation. After many years, we came to the conclusion that ecovillages, as much as we know them, aim mainly to settle into "civil society" and are actively seeking no confrontation with the world surrounding them. Different from the perspective of fighting domination and exploitation and achieving mutual support, these places act as "access concentrators". Traffic goes in, but seldom comes out – if you understand the difference. As a matter of fact they represent the evolution of old society, in a greener civil society. But war, science, economics, (or, in just a word – power) are not questioned. When you visit an ecovillage you will generally pay per stay. In some of them you won't be able to even cook for yourself. In some others, you won't be able to simply put your tent. Paid services will be present for everything you can imagine. In some places you will have to pay just to hear some guru speak.

Our own organisations provide some jobs but the majority of our members have to find paid work outside of the community.

Lebensgarten Steyerberg — The Lebensgarten Steyerberg e.V. is a community that strives to live in harmony together with others and with nature. Founded in 1986, the community has since grown to include 62 terrace houses, a seminar house (also known as the healing house) and the main building where the big hall is located. Most of those that come to live here are searching for communal living and are open to embracing care and tolerance. We all support one another in the development of our talents and abilities, as well as in everyday life. Just as important for us is our cooperation with nature and ecology. For this reason we now have approximately 100 gardeners who all help us to attain this. Everyone living in the community is financially responsible for themselves and aside from the active members, we also receive some support from patrons.

Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles Ecovillage — Los Angeles Ecovillage is a place name for our transit rich two block neighborhood three miles west of Downtown Los Angeles. Three nonprofit organizations are working toward reinventing how we live in the City. Our 45 member intentional community does this by demonstrating higher quality living patterns at much lower environmental impacts, engaging with one another, our neighbors and the City at large in a variety of hands-on and educational activities. We try to maximize the beneficial connections among the social, ecological and economic systems of the neighborhood. Our Urban Soil-Tierra Urbana limited equity housing cooperative along with our Beverly-Vermont Community Land Trust ensure that our land and housing remain permanently affordable for very low to middle income households. These two organizations currently own 50 units of housing in three multi-family buildings. Our nonprofit developer, the Center for Urban Ecovillages – Los Angeles* (formerly CRSP) currently owns the commercial property, Songs, on our northern border, with plans for it to house an eco co-op hostel for group immersion experiences in urban sustainable living, along with several small green co-op oriented businesses..

FalconBlanco — FalconBlanco (since 1975) Intentional – spiritual – international Community – Ecovillage, is also a charity and non profit organization. The center FalconBlanco, Ibiza, Spain serves not only as a retreat, health and seminar center but also gives the possibility to volunteers from all over the world to work together in a practical way for our charity goals. Our main intention is to provide information for all who need it and are asking for it. Our intention is to further awareness, growth and health by investigating about alternative and holistic ways and giving free information to anybody who looks for it. We are using mainly the Internet for this and offer at our Web site articles, answers to  questions, discussions, download ebooks, videos and tapes. This is done by permanent members and volunteers of 'FalconBlanco'. Members are persons who are living and working at the place FalconBlanco – or members who are supporting our intention in one or the other way and not necessarily living at our place. We also offer workshops, lectures or other public events with the same intention. There are individual treatments available at FalconBlanco like Yoga, Reiki, Shiatsu, EFT, initiation into meditation and more, depending on the members and their abilities living at FalconBlanco. All offered service is for free, never there is money involved. All volunteers are doing their work because they are motivated and engaged in our projects and never will receive or ask for money. With our intention we want to start a 'positive chain reaction'. Helping our fellow human beings and every thing which is part of our world and in need where ever this are showing up, without expecting any reward. Never money is involved or should be a motivation for our doing. Then we all can make the surprising experience that as more we give, as more comes back… And with this we are rising onto another level, beyond the narrow level of materialistic behavior and thinking.

Zajezova — Zajezova is a widely spread village consisting of small groups of settlements. The greater part of its original inhabitants has gradually moved away during the second half of the 20th century. From 1991 several NGOs have started to be active in Zajezova – their focuses being traditional handicrafts, folk architecture and environmental issues. These NGOs have attracted (and are still attracting) a great amount of people, of which some decided to settle in Zajezova and its surrounding settlements. The number of inhabitant in Zajezova has been growing since then. The newcomers and the original inhabitants are in most aspects different, however, many of them cooperate in their effort to make Zajezova even nicer. A part of the inhabitant that are more actively involved in different both non-formal and formal projects call themselves „community of Zajezka". Their creativity and enthusiasm to live freely and in harmony with nature made Zajezka a place that inspires other freely thinking people not only from Slovakia. Some of our local initiatives are pioneering and unique in Slovakia: strawbale building, community run primary school, non-formal forest kindergarden, food bank cooperative, natural reserves protected by the municipality, dunkeltherapy retreats, to name just a few.
