These properties are defined by a highly adjustable structure of the quantum dot that yields enormous potential in many applications, including photovoltaic cells. A solar cell (also called a photovoltaic cell) is an electrical device that converts the energy of light directly into electricity by the photovoltaic effect. It is a form of photoelectric cell (in that its electrical characteristics—e.g. current, voltage, or resistance—vary when light is incident upon it) which, when exposed to light, can generate and support an electric current without being attached to any external voltage source. If combined with a quantum dot, a high quantum efficiency (percentage of photons transformed into current) is produced, generating a usable total efficiency.The viability of dissolving these quantum dots into a suitable ink for 3-D printing onto a universal solar cell and its processes are analyzed and discussed.","Page image":"File:Quantum Dot Solar Cell - Concept.jpg","Page keywords":"3-D printing, solar cells, ABS filament, C (nanotube SW), CdSe/ZnS Core/Shell Amine Coated Quantum Dot, PbS/CdS Core/Shell Amine Coated Quantum Dot","Page language":"en","Page license":"CC-BY-SA-3.0","Page title":"Viability of 3-D Printing Cadmium Selenide and Lead Sulfide Quantum Dots in Solar Cells","Page views":"258","Page year":"Tuesday, 01-Jan-13 00:00:00 UTC","Project authors":"User:Canitz, User:Ampringl, User:Zidico","Project coordinates":"43.621194444444, -84.682433333333","Project cost":"2146.31","Project location":"Michigan, United States","Project thumb":"https://www.appropedia.org/w/images/thumb/a/a2/Quantum_Dot_Solar_Cell_-_Concept.jpg/330px-Quantum_Dot_Solar_Cell_-_Concept.jpg","Project year":"Tuesday, 01-Jan-13 00:00:00 UTC","Modification date":"Tuesday, 18-Jun-24 23:07:11 UTC"}
