Overtime, however, the chip can stop working. There is a fairly simple way to check if it is a communication chip issue or something else that is causing the problem.\n\n== List of Materials ==\n\n* Bread Board x1\n* Jumper Wires(As many as possible)\n* RS485 communication chip x2\n* Arduino x2\n* PC x1\n* 5v regulator x2\n* Power source x1\n* 120 OHM Resistor x2\n* USB to Mini USB Cord x1\n\n== Bread board setup ==\n\n<gallery mode=\"packed\" heights=300px>\nFile:Chippic1.5.jpg\nFile:goodpics1.2.jpg\nFile:Boardpic1.3.jpg\n</gallery>\n\nWire Plug In Places:\n\n* RO: Pin 12\n* RE/DE: Pin 11\n* DI: Pin 10\n* Wire going from A to A and B to B on both chips|\n* Regulator set up: Far left:Input(high power)|Middle:Ground|Right:Output|\n\n== Arduino Setup ==\n\nWe need 2 arduinos, TX and RX|\nTX is the transmitting code and RX is the receiving code\n\nArduino to bread board\n\n<gallery mode=packed heights=300px>\nFile:arduino1.3.jpg\nFile:arduino2.2.jpg\n</gallery>\n\n== Arduino code ==\n\n# Go to the SOAR drive\n# Find code RS485blink_ROV_Philip_TX and RS485blink_ROV_Philip_RX in arduino Code, test, test vault\n# Use the USB cord and download RS485blink_ROV_Philip_TX into arduino labeled TX and RS485blink_ROV_Philip_RX in to arduino labeled RX\n# Keep arduinos plugged in, arduino TX should have a light that flashes a random amount of times and RX shouldn't do anything\n# Upload the soft easy transfer onto code\n\nTX Code\n[https://gitlab.com/SOAR_DB/rs485-tx-code]\n\nRX Code\n[https://gitlab.com/SOAR_DB/rs485-rx-code]\n\n== Final Steps ==\n\nPlug everything in and turn on the power. If everything is set up the TX arduino should blink and after a very short delay the RX arduino should do the same blinks as the TX. If it does not blink either one of your chips is bad or something is hooked up incorrectly.\n\n{{Page data\n| license = CC-BY-SA-3.0\n| keywords = arduino, ROV\n}}\n\n[[Category:Electronics]]"}
