The device uses recent electro-wetting technology to control small droplets of liquids. Potential applications are lab on a chip devices for automating processes of digital biology. The device features a high voltage pump powered by USB-C, is reprogrammable and arduino compatible. An open source PC software based on Processing is available.\n\nThe electrowetting cartridge is based on a printed circuit board that holds 128 individual electrodes. The individual electrodes are connected to the backside of the circuit board through vertical interconnects (VIAs) and linked to the cartridge connector on the back.\n\nThe project was built by [http://www.gaudi.ch/ GaudiLabs] and is part of the [https://forum.openhardware.science/c/communities/digital-biology/25 \"Digital Biology\" community] that aims at making personal lab-automation, lab on a chip technology and its applications accessible.\n\nThe project was published in the scientific paper: [https://www.researchgate.net/publication/317091809_OpenDrop_An_Integrated_Do-It-Yourself_Platform_for_Personal_Use_of_Biochips OpenDrop: An Integrated Do-It-Yourself Platform for Personal Use of Biochips]\n\n{{Video\n| video = https://youtu.be/cOqAEPWtlRE\n| title = OpenDrop Microfluidics\n}}\n\n{{Page data\n| keywords = EWOD, Digital Microfluidics, Electrowetting, Arduino, Open Science Hardware, open hardware, Research, GaudiLabs, hackteria, GOSH, PCB, Printed Circuit Board, Glass, Acrylic\n| organizations = GaudiLabs LLC\n| sdg = SDG03 Good health and well-being, SDG04 Quality education, SDG16 Peace justice and strong institutions\n}}\n\n[[Category:DIY]]\n[[Category:Open source scientific hardware]]\n[[Category:Science]]\n[[Category:Lists]]\n[[Category:Open Hardware]]\n[[Category:Technology]]\n[[Category:Engineering]]\n[[Category:Open hardware]]\n[[Category:Research]]"}
