As a student of Engineering 442, I was supposed to brainstorm of an idea of how to modify the jelly box. The chocolate extruder idea was interesting because not only did it improve my skills when it came to using different drawing software's such as Opens CAD, blender and MeshLab. The project required creative thinking as one decodes the issues with the prototypes. There were several attempts made. One of the challenges faced is trying to close holes after cutting out almost half of the initial designs. I learned that it is impossible to print an object if the mesh is not closed. This project made me research beyond what we covered in class such as Boolean joining, using extrude key and cutting objects.\n\n== Author & Creator ==\n\nThis project was worked on by Juliet Mirambo.\n\nMain page: [[User:Juliet.Mirambo]]\n\n== Bill of Materials ==\n\n* Enough filament\n* Chocolate syringe(shipped)\n* 3D printer (Jell box or similar RepRap)\n* https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6019133\n\n== Tools needed ==\n\n* 3D printer\n* Chocolate syringe\n* Laser cut jelly box lid\n* Filament\n* Drawing platforms eg. Open Scad, Blender.\n\n== Skills and knowledge needed ==\n\nKnowledge on how to use jell box and knowing different parts of the jelly box.\n\n* Guide for chocolate extruder [https://chocol3d.com/ Link]\n* 3D Printing Courses on Wikiversity: [https://www.imade3d.com/jellybox/ Link]\n\n== Directions and Assembly Instructions ==\n\nTo start the build, go imade.com, get a file of the pink extruder. Export it to blender but remember to change file to an obj file. cut the middle section which is projected forward and transfer file to mesh lab to close hole. Add other modifications that would enable the object be attached to syringe. Transfer stl file to sd card and print object while its laying horizontally.\n\n=== Common Problems and Solutions ===\n\nThe nozzle being too far from the fan to a point the chocolate is unable to cool.\n\n* One issue faced in blender is holes are made on the object and can only be solved by transferring to mesh lab.\n\n== Cost savings ==\n\n* It doesn't take too much filament therefore multiple products could be made which would compensate on filament cost. The price setimate is $1 and filament used would cost around 50 cent.\n\n== Benefited Internet Communities ==\n\n== References ==\n\n* https://www.imade3d.com/jellybox/\n\n{{Page data}}"}
