Appropriate Technology students  and  designed a landscape to improve the site, which was saturated with water due to onsite rainwater collection. The design includes a dry stream bed that facilitates water drainage and also includes berms that raise the plants above the water table for better water drainage. Members at [https://web.archive.org/web/20210309164708/https://northcoastcnps.org/ Native Plant Society] and [http://lostfoods.org/ Lost Foods] in Eureka helped develop a list of plants that could be used for the project and gave tips on their needs. Over the course of five three-hour-workdays, Appropriate Technology class members as well as volunteers in the community and at HSU helped to landscape and plant the garden, as well as develop educational brochure and signage to educate the community on the native plants chosen for the project.","Page image":"File:Jefferson after 1.jpg","Page language":"en","Page license":"CC-BY-SA-3.0","Page title":"Jefferson Community Center native landscaping 2017","Page views":"552","Page year":"Sunday, 01-Jan-17 00:00:00 UTC","Project authors":"User:Rmm686, User:Ksanguinetti","Project coordinates":"40.801875, -124.17075555556","Project cost":"830","Project location":"Eureka, California","Project status":"Deployed","Project thumb":"https://www.appropedia.org/w/images/thumb/5/58/Jefferson_after_1.jpg/330px-Jefferson_after_1.jpg","Project year":"Sunday, 01-Jan-17 00:00:00 UTC","Modification date":"Wednesday, 02-Sep-26 12:34:24 UTC"}
