In places that do not have access to running water do not have the ability to frequently wash their hands and increase the chance of sickness to spread. With a portable easy to use unit that uses a limited amount of water to be able to have in a village or house in a place with out access to running water could help prevent spread of sicknesses. Current solution is to use a larger jug hanging from a tree for a small town or village to share.\n\n== Bill of Materials ==\n\n# PLA Plastic Filament - Approx: 200g Cost: ~$4\n# Rubber O-Rings - 2: 3/4\" ID x 15/161\" OD Cost: $1\n# Electrical Tap - 4\" Cost:$0.25\n# Common Used Bottle 12oz to 2L - Garbage Cost: Free\n\nTotal Cost: $5.25\n\n== Tools needed ==\n\n# [[Athena Build Overview|MOST Delta RepRap]] or similar RepRap 3-D printer\n\n== Technical Specifications and Assembly Instructions ==\n\nUsed 2 Liter Bottle Holder by\n(c) 2013 Laird Popkin, based on http://www.threadspecs.com/assets/Threadspecs/ISBT-PCO-1881-Finish-3784253-18.pdf.\nCredit to eagleapex for creating and then deleting [https://web.archive.org/web/20170716152322/https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10489 http://web.archive.org/web/20170716152322/https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10489]\n\n=== OpenSCAD Files ===\n\nFiles available at [https://web.archive.org/web/20200813024933/https://www.youmagine.com/designs/hand-washing-station]\n\n=== Printable Stl files ===\n\n[[File:MainDespensor.scad]]\n\n [[File:Knob SmallerD.scad]]\n\n=== Print Instructions ===\n\nFor all printed components\n\n'''Material''': PLA\n\n'''Layer Height''': 0.15mm\n\n'''Shell Thickness''': 4mm\n\n'''Fill Density''': 10%\n\n'''Print Speed''': 110 mm/s\n\n'''Printing Temperature''': 205 C\n\nSupports are Necessary\n\nTotal Printing Time: 10 hours\n\nAssembly time: <5min\n\n=== Assembly Instructions ===\n\n# Materials: 2 Printed Pieces, Electrical Tape, 2 O-Rings, Bottle.\n# The assembly is very straight forward from looking at the pictures.\n\nOnce the Printing is done take 1 of the two o-rings and put it around the end of the bottle so if the cap was screwed back on there is a good seal. Take the other o-ring and put it around the insert where the groove is. Roll the o-ring into place using a table or flat surface. Apply the electrical tape around the o-ring to create a tighter seal and hold the o-ring into place.\n\n=== Common Problems and Solutions ===\n\n* Water leaking out is a common problem even when the knob is all the way in. The solution is to add more electrical but the knob will be harder to move in and out.\n\n== Cost savings ==\n\n# Total Cost of Print: $5.25\n# The closest online equivalent is at least $225\n# Savings: $219.75\n# Precent Reduction: 97.6%\n\n== Benefited Internet Communities ==\n\n# Blue Planet Network [https://web.archive.org/web/20190831010829/http://blueplanetnetwork.org:80/ http://web.archive.org/web/20190831010829/http://blueplanetnetwork.org:80/]\n# ACTS [https://web.archive.org/web/20210126000618/https://acts.ca/ http://web.archive.org/web/20210126000618/https://acts.ca/]\n# Bloodwater https://www.bloodwater.org/\n# Care https://www.care.org/\n# Charity:Water https://www.charitywater.org/\t.\n\n</nowiki>\n\n{{Page data\n| keywords = 3D printing, hand washing station, health, osat, sanitation, water, plastic\n| sdg = SDG06 Clean water and sanitation, SDG10 Reduced inequalities, SDG11 Sustainable cities and communities, SDG12 Responsible consumption and production\n| published = 2018\n| organizations = MTU, Michigan_Tech's_Open_Sustainability_Technology_Lab, MY4777\n| license = CC-BY-SA-3.0\n| language = en\n}}\n\n[[Category:How tos]]\n[[Category:Health Care]]\n[[Category:Water]]\n[[Category:OSAT 3D-Printable Designs]]\n[[Category:3D printing]]\n[[Category:Health]]\n[[Category:Sanitation]]\n[[Category:Plastic]]"}
