Suggestions

  • I think CCAT has some furniture made from sturdy cardboard.
  • Are there LCAs of furniture? e.g. comparing:
    • Wooden frame furniture: renewable resource, potentially a negative carbon footprint but not necessarily so.
    • Steel frame furniture: Presumably a higher embedded energy but a long lifespan; often lighter and more manageable than wood. (It occurs to me I'm using carbon footprint and embedded energy interchangeably, but they're not the same thing. It would be interesting to explore how they're related.)
  • Space-efficient furniture supports space-efficient housing (tiny houses being the extreme example). Space-efficient housing supports lively and walkable neighborhoods and room for open space (including gardens, plazas and other common spaces).

That's what comes to mind for now. --Chriswaterguy 18:40, 5 December 2012 (PST)
