Vegetables are edible plants or parts of a plant (ie leaves, stems, or roots). Vegetables are characterized by their mild taste, low calorie (ie >35kcal/100grams) and low protein content. The definition on what is and what is not a vegetable varies[1] but we will consider legumes not to be a vegetable (as they have high protein contents), disregard plants with high caloric contents (ie sweet corn, avocado, sweet melons, potatoes and many other root tubers, ...) and also not include spices (ie garlic, caper, ginger, ...) or in the list.
