-Re what to put on your user page, maybe you're thinking of [[MediaWiki:Create a userpage]]. Let me know if that's unclear.
-Also, in the toolbar when you're editing, there's a squiggle in the middle that represents a signature (next to the crossed-out W). Press that and it adds a <nowiki>--~~~~</nowiki>, which turns into a signature with date when you save. Handy for talk pages.
