I like AAG available project. Do we want to make that just for volunteer positions/projects? Anyway no rush - I'm sure we'll evolve a set of more specific templates as more pages use them, but this is a great start. --Chriswaterguy 06:55, 22 April 2008 (PDT)

: yeah, it was just just a first start template, I think there is a lot that could improve it and possibilities for different templates and we'll move in those directions when we have the time and the need. --David.reber 08:52, 22 April 2008 (PDT)

Now that the topic is raised, this is a good thing to think about. I've posted my thoughts at Appropedia talk:Village pump#Event details. --Chriswaterguy 09:33, 24 April 2008 (PDT)

Revision as of 16:33, 24 April 2008

Hi David (aka Morpheus2485),

Welcome to Appropedia, thank you for your excellent contributions so far. Your mission is fantastic and very in sync with Appropedia. I am not sure if you know any of the other Appropedia people, but the admin most dedicated to the pursuit of public domain works is Chriswaterguy. Please consider dropping a message on his discussion page to discuss some of your ideas.

In addition, if you are looking for places to go do development work as an engineering student, feel free to ask me some questions and let me know what you are looking for. I consult and have contacts with many projects that may fit your passion.

Thank you, --Lonny 00:16, 26 January 2008 (PST)

Welcome templates

Hi David,

Thanks for taking part in welcoming newcomers. I'm not sure if you're aware, but you can use the Welcome template - it's best to "substitute" rather than transclude, though: just enter '

I'm planning to work more on those porting pages within the next few days, and will let you know. --Chriswaterguy · talk 01:45, 28 January 2008 (PST)

Welcome!

Hi David.reber,

Welcome to the Appropedia wiki. Please make yourself at home! If you need a general wiki-tutorial, Wikieducator has some excellent ones.

Check your preferences and be sure you verify your email address and turn on email notification if you'd like it -- you can find out when your talk page, or any page on your watchlist, is modified. You may want to upload a photo or information about yourself to your userpage (which is at http://appropedia.org/User:YourUsername).

If you have a particular interest or project in mind, go ahead and start it! Feel free to leave me a note on my talk page if you have further questions, need help finding your way around, have a cool idea for a project, or just want to chat. You can also call, text, or email me anytime; contact information is on my user page.

Glad to have you here!

-David.reber

Requesting permission

Did I point this page out already? Appropedia:Requesting permission. I think Curt has edited it since I last looked, and I think it's much improved - clear and to the point.

Making progress on the porting from PDF stuff now - it's looking very promising! --Chriswaterguy · talk 05:03, 29 January 2008 (PST)

Hi David - you wrote:
"Am I supposed to reply here? or on my talk page? does it matter?"
You can do either - but if you reply on your own page, it's best to tell the person on their own talk page.

"I am working through my list of authors, trying to contact them, but they all published in the 60's and 70's and they are very difficult to find."
That's a real challenge - do your best, keep track of what you've done (e.g. use labels or folders to keep track of emails you've sent and received) and if there's no response, we'll see if we can think of other approaches. Maybe we could make a list of those we're trying to find, and send emails out to our contacts and relevant university departments and organizations.
Keep up the good work! --Chriswaterguy · talk 18:55, 30 January 2008 (PST)

What's the awareness wiki?

Responded to your question at Talk:Interwiki_map#awareness_wiki_dead. --Chriswaterguy · talk 15:14, 30 January 2008 (PST)

Test Category?

Hi David,

Good to see you here again. Should I delete Template:Tlc? I noticed that Appropedia groups is categorized under that category. Thank you for your great input here. --Lonny 14:18, 29 March 2008 (PDT)

PS We miss you on the welcoming committee, where we have a short back log of unwelcomed new users.

Hi, Thank you for your welcome message and suggestions. Thanks for offering to help.

Deletion & AAG starting point

I assumed you wanted this whole thing deleted (and not just the talk page):

[[User:Chriswaterguy Chriswaterguy] ([User_talk:Chriswaterguy Talk]] | Special:Contributions/Chriswaterguy Contributions | Special:Blockip/Chriswaterguy block) deleted "Heat powered LED lighting"

delete is another way of tagging for deletion. Thanks.

I've seen your recent work, and I'm wordering where I should direct people who are interested in similar things - will we use the Category:Appropedia Action Groups page as the "meeting place" and starting point, or is there somewhere else? --Chriswaterguy 19:59, 12 April 2008 (PDT)

Thanks for deleting that page. I have been using Appropedia Action Groups as a start page. Do you think moving it to a category page would be beneficial? Also, the links on that page sketch out how we might organize the information. I would seriously like to hear your advice on how to better organize the content. David.reber 20:15, 12 April 2008 (PDT)
Re moving it to a category page: We've been tossing around the Topic categories idea for a while, and occasionally coming back to it. It's so long that I've almost forgotten what my concerns were, but I think we should get this resolved on a policy level, so I'll do some more work on finding a solution to this.
Re organize the content on AAG... will look at it shortly. --Chriswaterguy 02:59, 17 April 2008 (PDT)
