Did you add the "email this user" issue to a "to do" list? --CurtB 21:01, 22 October 2006 (PDT)

The problem is now ready to be fixed. One last issue: I want to set up email confirmation, so that users must confirm their email address before using the email features. Unfortunately, this means that all previous users will need to go back and confirm their email address. Three fixes:
  1. Find a way to edit the database so that all existing users are considered confirmed.
    • I like this idea, but I am unsure of how to do it.
  2. Find a way to email all current users, send them an email update about appropedia, and remind them to confirm their email address.
    • I like this idea, but I am unsure if it will work with the unconfirmed email addresses.
  3. Put a note on all current users talk pages about confirming their email addresses.
For new users it will be very apparent that they need to confirm their email addresses, this is only a problem for the existing users.
Any ideas? --Lonny 10:41, 23 October 2006 (PDT)
I would suggest investing another day or two in headscratching on #1, since that would certainly be cool and our situation is totally urgent. Assuming that no easy scheme pops up, I would suggest we do #3. As it happens, I get emails whenever someone alters my user talk page (is that true for everyone?), and so #3 accomplishes #2 when possible. I can imagine posting a form message on each user talk page fairly quickly (1 a minute?), assuming the network adapter is not giving us grief. --CurtB 15:31, 23 October 2006 (PDT)
