Every waking day, we are having tremendous changes in our society and technology, which greatly affects the ways entrepreneurial businesses run. The future of entrepreneurship should revolutionize the way we live and operate in our complex society with the integration of the latest emergent technologies. "Entrepreneurs need to be thinking about the future, but that requires they invest time into forecasting trends," says Amy Webb, the CEO and founder of Future Today Institute. "The challenge is that trends in technology have become synonymous with things that are trendy." The word entrepreneurship has been defined as the "discovery, evaluation and exploitation of opportunities" but until just a few years ago, saying you were a young entrepreneur was a creative way to say you were in between jobs.

Academic Background

Passionate and enthusiastic student at Michigan Tech University (MTU) pursuing a double major in Material Science Engineering and Management. My research interests are in applied sustainability, affordable 3D houses, appropriate technology, barriers to sustainable development, digital transformation, Ai and Machine Learning, power of Information and Communication Technologies (internet, access to knowledge etc), open source/ open access and innovation through collaboration, technology, environment and society, as well as the theory of common good and morality.

Research

I am a member of Professor Joshua Pearce's Michigan Tech's Open Sustainability Technology [MOST] Research Group. My research interests include: 3D printing, in particular in creating a commercial scale 3D printer with recycling plastic, Solar PV Conversion Efficiency, thin film growth techniques using PECVD, PVD ( e-beam evaporation and sputter deposition systems), semiconductor/micro-fabrication processing, clean room techniques.

Methodology

Over 90% of the plastics are not recycled around the world because consumers have no economic incentive to recycle. To rectify this, in Dr. Pearce's MOST group, we are working with a US large format 3-D printer company to directly convert recycled waste into economically valuable products. My project will involve evaluating the viability of various waste polymer material feed stocks for this fused particle fabrication additive manufacturing system. I will evaluate the material properties and structure of the input material, learn to optimize process parameters for the 3-D printing, and then test the mechanical performance of the resultant components. This work will result in a peer reviewed publication in a materials recycling journal.
