Biography

Jacob Loss

Senior Computer Engineering & Aerospace Engineering Student at Michigan Tech. University. Electronics and Audio Hobbyist. Part-time Musician. Dabbling Blacksmith.

Jacob Loss is a Senior Undergraduate of Computer Engineering & Aerospace Engineering at Michigan Technological University. Jacob was raised in Wauconda, IL, a small town north-west of Chicago. During High School, Jacob began to learn programming as a hobby and pursued this interests after High School upon going to University at Michigan Tech. Jacob is now a senior in engineering and works in the design of electronics, audio equipment, software, and firmware both professionally and as a hobbyist.

Open Source 3-D Printing Class

For the Open Source 3-D Printing Class, Jacob will be working with Marcello Guadagno to develop a small-scale regolith printer called Stonehenge. Regolith is the rocky dust found on extraterrestrial bodies such as the Moon or Mars. For this project we will be using faux-regolith developed to imitate regolith found on the moon. This regolith dust will be mixed with polymer material and used to print small items and tools. This printer will work as a proof-of-concept of the use of regolith for additive manufacturing on the moon.
