Trying to figure out what kind of elements should be on the mobile page. Input would be appreciated

Item Description On Mobile? Tahnok's Rationale
Search Box Go to / search for pages or content Yes Permits quick access for mobile
Footer Contains license, privacy policy, disclaimers, etc... No Probably easier to have a link to all of that on one page instead of clutter mobile site
Toolbox Contains links to special pages, upload a file, recent changes, what links here, etc.. No (maybe hidden) Not always useful for quick viewing / editing. Could be made visable by clicking a button in case?
Topics & Areas Links to Appropedia's top-level categories and the like Maybe? Would be useful on devices to avoid typing, but may not be always needed if you know what you are looking for
Appropedia Links to About, FAQ, Donate, Blog and Social networking sites No? Not sure if you would need this while mobile? Maybe a link to a general about page
Navigation Links to Homepage, recent changes, random and discuss (village pump) Yes Might want to collapse or move to bottom of the page
Logo the logo... Yes It's good branding, but maybe very small and very transparent as a background image or something?
Views Links to page, edit, discussion, history and if logged in delete, move, protect, watch Some of them I'd say edit and discussion are important, but history, and admin actions may not be useful... I could be wrong though
User Actions Link to user page, talk, watchlist, contribution, log out Some of them my contribution is not useful. Watchlist? I don't know if this is a good think to keep on a mobile skin or not...

Goals of a mobile skin[edit | edit source]

  • Fast Loading
    • Minimal images
  • Easy to navigate with thumbs
    • Links are easy to hit
