Originally from Bella Vista, CA. Studying Environmental Science (Energy and Climate) at Cal Poly Humboldt starting in 2014. In a general and simple sense, I hope to apply what I learn at HSU to improve the quality of life for other people and for the environment. Outside of school, I'm passionate about music and spending time in nature.

Interests in Appropriate Technology

I'm interested in solar energy development on a community scale; preventing the mistakes of the most developed countries by skipping the fossil fuel phase altogether. Alternative building design is something I think is interesting also; Finding ways to depart from the four walls and a roof archetype to make various buildings more intuitively designed for the people who spend most of their lives in and out of buildings. Access to clean water is fundamental to human health yet many still go without it. Various forms of appropriate tech. that provide clean water interest me along with the ways by which their uses can be widespread and less situationally dependent.

Experience in Appropriate Technology

I haven't had much hands on experience with appropriate technology. Growing up, not many people in my area worked with appropriate tech. and I didn't have many resources to learn about them. I've had minimal experience with small-scale water pumps but I'm hoping that Engr. 305 can be a point from which I can begin to gain more experience with all different kinds of appropriate technology.
