About Me

Hello, I am Nancy Charco. This is my second year at Humboldt State University. I am majoring in Environmental Resource Engineering. I am not sure how I decided to major in Environmental Resource Engineering. As a first generation student, I just heard people talk about how engineers were required to do a lot of math, which is a subject that I really enjoy learning. I also realized that I deeply care for the environment and I felt that this major was ideal for me due to how it went hand-in-hand with my environmental interests. Though I was not too aware what to expect in my first course of Engineering, I was satisfied with what I was learning and stayed with this major. Another reason that I want to continue with this major is that I want to help my mother’s community in Mexico. When I was smaller I was able to swim in a river that the community used as a resource. Recently, I’ve learned that the river is contaminated. One of my goals when achieving my Environmental Resource Engineering degree is to restore the river’s health.

Interests in Engineering

I am interested in being able to build environmental friendly and sustainable building. I am also interested in using resource that be affordable around the world.

Experience in Engineering

Helped design a Rope/Ramp Design and construct it. Helped design and built a Rude Goldberg machine that crash cans.

Introduction to Design

In my 215 Introduction Design class my group and I design choose a project called Triangle of Death. The Triangle of Death was an area in Zane Middle School where there was dirt and death plants. Our assignment was to design an atheistically pleasing area where people were able to pass through. The design we created was the Triangle of Life and here are some documents that we created while creating Triangle of Life.
