Biography[edit | edit source]

Motivated individual who tackles each project or opportunity with rigor and an open mind. The opportunity to work on a team excites me as I have always been a solid team contributor when solving problems. I pride myself on my strong work ethic and industrious attitude. Looking forward, I hope to advance my skills in a professional or industrial setting and continue to broaden my understanding of environmental engineering practices and other sustainable development and design practices.

Academic Background[edit | edit source]

Graduated from Grand Haven High School in 2018, 9th in class as a distinguished academic leader. High school was where my passion for environmental engineering and interest in sustainable design and practices began. Currently working towards earning a B.S. in Environmental Engineering at Michigan Technological University. I am co-lead of a design team in MTU's Engineers Without Borders chapter. I am also a member of the Built World Enterprise and working with advisors and student leads to make it possible for EWB students to earn enterprise credit for their work. I am Captain of Women's Ultimate Frisbee team at Michigan Tech and work hard to create a competitive and welcoming environment for female athletes on campus. I hope to graduate with my B.S. in May of 2022 and pursue a masters in Water Resource management.

Research Interests[edit | edit source]

  • Bioremediation of Natural Water Environments
  • Water and Wastewater Treatment
  • Water Resource Management
  • Renewable Energy Technology

Past Research Projects[edit | edit source]

  • The GREEN Program - Peru - Water Resource Management and Sustainable Practices

Capstone Project: Development of secondary wastewater treatment plant in Cusco, Peru. In Spring 2019 I traveled to Peru to take part in a Water Management and Sustainability Course at a local university and developed a capstone project with a small team, which was then presented to local officials and professors. This work was extremely insightful as it demonstrated how important it is to understand a culture and environment in order to provide the best engineered solution.

  • Engineers Without Borders - Guatemala - Gravity Fed Water Distribution System

My participation in Engineer's Without Borders has shaped my career aspirations in every way. I have met some incredible people who taught me how to collaborate and design creative solutions start to finish. Seeing the challenges faced by people across the globe has inspired me to seek out where the science and technology of engineering can make a difference. In EWB I worked as a design team co-lead for a gravity fed water distribution system- spring box design for a rural village in Guatemala. My specific research was on holding tanks for the water distribution system.

  • Built World Enterprise - ACRP Design Competition - Deicing

This project is through Michigan Tech's Built World Enterprise. Teams within the enterprise select a specific civil or environmental problem faced by airports worldwide. A sustainable solution is to be researched and developed among each team. A detailed report on deicing of runways was submitted the Airport Cooperation Research Program's (ACRP) University Design Competition.
