Who am I?

Humboldt State University student, studying Environmental Science/Appropriate Technology. I love this Earth! I love getting my hands dirty, exploring, climbing on rocks, doing yoga, gardening, building stuff, playing music... Music is the Most High!

Interests in Appropriate Technology

My interests include solar technology, clean and renewable energy, organic gardening and in the more general sense participating in the evolution of humans past the point of destructive means of living, and towards locally based sustainability. In 2006, I had the opportunity to visit [Estancia Ranquilco], a permaculture cattle ranch located in the Andean Cordillera of Argentina. Their elegant use of microhyrdo power, channeled water for household uses, and indigenous building materials so inspired me to invest my time in learning these new old technologies that center on harmony with the natural world.

Experience in Appropriate Technology

My experience in Appropriate Tech are so far limited to being enrolled in "Engineering 305 Appropriate Technology", and having taken "Intro to Environmental Engineering". In these classes, I have learned the basics of how bioremediation, solar power, microhydro power, and a few other technologies function. I am also involved in a project aimed at fabricating Parabolic Solar cookers from previously existing materials, namely papasan chairs and 1 gallon tin-can lids. My life plans are deliciously intertwined with Appropriate Tech; I aim to never stop learning about ways to live with the land.
