Who am I?

I am a recent Humboldt State University Graduate of Environmental Science - Technology and Climate option. I'm 24 years old, ready to start getting field experience in Appropriate Tech. I enjoy music, studying medicine and the universe, hiking, cooking, and being outdoors, but most of all working towards manifesting a better planet for all to live on.

Interests in Appropriate Technology

Practical applications include Rainwater Catchment and Bottom of the Pyramid design, and the new Humdinger Windbelt technology. Also permaculture, organic agriculture, chickens.
On a philosophical level, Biomimicry, Solar tech, Synergy, Bucky fuller, design, and many other things.

Experience in Appropriate Technology

In 2006, I had the opportunity to visit [Estancia Ranquilco], a permaculture ranch located in the Andean Cordillera of Argentina. Their elegant use of microhyrdo power, channeled water for household uses, and indigenous building materials so inspired me to invest my life/time in learning these new/old technologies that hold the potential to improve peoples lives and preserve the natural.
Co-created on a Papasan Chair Solar Cooker from mostly salvaged materials with Bart Orlando in 2008.
Earned a degree in Environmental Science - Technology and Climate option in 2010.
Raised chickens organically in my backyard, volunteered on various organic farms for the last few years.

-My experience in Appropriate Tech are so far limited to being enrolled in "Engineering 305 Appropriate Technology", and having taken "Intro to Environmental Engineering". In these classes, I have learned the basics of how bioremediation, solar power, microhydro power, and a few other technologies function. I am also involved in a project aimed at fabricating Parabolic Solar cookers from previously existing materials, namely papasan chairs and 1 gallon tin-can lids. My life plans are deliciously intertwined with Appropriate Tech; I aim to never stop learning about ways to live with the land.
