Problem being addressed

Post-partum hemorrhage is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality world-wide and it is difficult to control. Current popular methods of treatment involve drug injection and uterine massage, which are invasive and require skill and training.

Detailed description of the solution

Arsenal Medical is currently developing a foam material and foam delivery device that expands to the anatomical shape of any uterus while still maintaining its structure. It allows for minimally-invasive drug-delivery and effective control of hemorrhage.

Describe its relevance for resource-constrained settings

This device addresses maternal mortality in developing countries. It is especially well-suited for these regions because it is inexpensive and minimally invasive.
