SCA stub template[edit source]

I noticed the stub template at SCA21 looks a lot nicer...

http://sca21.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Stub

I'm tempted to copy it. Comments? --CurtB 14:24, 22 December 2006 (PST)

I think it is a great idea. I asked Philralph at wikia:sca21:User_talk:LRG. We should make sure to move the existing {{stub}}s to lower on some pages, so that it looks better. --Lonny 04:02, 23 December 2006 (PST)
Sounds good. --Singkong2005 · talk 03:52, 24 December 2006 (PST)

Stub policy?[edit source]

As I looked at the stuff above, I went to Category:Stubs for a look around. Lots of questions:

Probably no good reason. How about we make two subcategories of Category:Stubs: Category:Topic stubs for pages with the {{stub}} template, and something like Category:Appropedia stubs for help, project and policy pages (to be divided into subcategories if preferred, esp if there's enough pages to make it worthwhile)? --Singkong2005 · talk 03:52, 24 December 2006 (PST)
Note that Category:Policy stubs has been moved to Category:Appropedia proposed policies. --Chriswaterguy · talk 17:56, 14 April 2007 (PDT)
  • Should we have a separate category for Categories that are stubs? I think so!
Sounds fair. As a subcat of Category:Topic stubs, if we go with the above scheme. --Singkong2005 · talk 03:52, 24 December 2006 (PST)
Once we've got lots of stubs we should think about creating stub categories in this way. --Singkong2005 · talk 04:04, 24 December 2006 (PST)
  • What information "should" be on a category page? That is, when is a category page not a stub? Any ideas here? Does every category page need a page-creation resource? Generally I think a happy (non-stub) category page does not need very much.
  • For that matter, when is an article page not a stub? Articles seem to me to require more stuff than category pages in order to fall outside the stub space.
  • I could create policy stubs for these policies :-) Presumably, the article policy could come from Wikipedia to start with. See wikipedia:Wikipedia:Stub. That's big! Lot to absorb! As usual, nothing is easy :-( But this is important as a tool to help to expand content. Yes! Our work is valued! Yes!

Policy stubs sound good. Good work. --Singkong2005 · talk 04:04, 24 December 2006 (PST)

Missing style class[edit source]

The template code references a style class that is not in MediaWiki:Common.css:

  • <div class="notice metadata" id="stub">

This may be a copy and paste relic from Wikipedia. When copying templates from Wikipedia, one should also look at the CSS style classes they use, and decide whether to copy those also from wikipedia:MediaWiki:Common.css to the local MediaWiki:Common.css. The result of not copying the style class is equivalent to removing the class="notice metadata" from the div tag altogether. It's not causing a problem, but it creates a red herring for someone who might want to copy the template code to another template or another wiki, assuming that person pays attention to the code and tries to figure out what it is doing. Incidentally, the notice metadata style class seems to be no longer in wikipedia:MediaWiki:Common.css either. I guess Wikipedians must have rearranged their style classes since the time when the original template code was copied to Appropedia. My advice would be to just delete the orphaned style class reference from the template here. --Teratornis 21:20, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Prettier[edit source]

Thank you all. I finally made this template a little prettier. Please feel free to make it better. --Lonny 22:23, 8 September 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
