Mini libraries started before 1999[edit source]

Not seeing on the Internet the actual origins of mini library’s so felt compelled to post what I know here.

I lived in a progressive home with a gentleman who was implementing these little mini libraries all throughout Portland, Oregon in the middle of neighborhoods in 1999.

I know the exact date because I had moved to Portland to start Medical school.

At the time I arrived, these little mini libraries were already in half a dozen neighborhoods throughout Portland, and in fact, the gentleman who was the son of one of the architects that designed the famous Pioneer Square in Portland, Oregon downtown, was responsible for navigating all of the politics to implement these little mini libraries along with tiny 10 ft.² “home” structures that allowed people to sit inside, read, and have a hot beverage …since he/his team filled an insulated dispenser with a pump with hot tea every day . 2600:387:A:15:0:0:0:58 14:15, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Also, I just remembered the name of his organization, where these mini libraries were being erected along with the tiny “home” structures with insulated pump Tea dispensers was called “city repair project.” 2600:387:A:15:0:0:0:58 14:28, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
