How to use this talk page
After you log in to Appropedia, click the "edit" tab on the top of the page to edit existing material or click the "+" tab to add a new post.
Please sign your posts by adding -~~~~ at the end (that's one dash and four tildes). Appropedia will automatically convert that to your name and the current time/date.
Todo
- Meet with Lonny as a group to discuss project's future with 4 people. His office hours can be seen on his user page.
- Research technologies and products in use both at the farm and in general.
Helpful stuff
What's currently at the farm
- Water Heater / Storage Tank
- We know it is a Reliance 606 series, but I neglected to find the exact model number. Will look again next time I'm there.
- Product manual (for piping connection instructions, etc.)
- Related patents Method of insulating the exterior of a water heater tank and Water heater construction, both directly listed on the product label and helpful in understanding how it's built internally. Contains diagrams.
- Solar Collector
- It's a "Colt, Inc. Model C-141C" solar collector. I could not find much information online but my UNVERIFIED guess is that it's actually a closed-loop system meant to be filled with glycol and not water -- but, again, that's UNVERIFIED (I only found one mention of this after a failed Google search, and I've since lost that cite).
Other examples
- Solar water heater - Basic principles and operations
- Hotel Perote's solar pool heating project - Contains the type of mathematical calculations and examples that Lonny probably wants to see
