Hand Cultivator

Abstract

  1. This OSAT is a hand cultivator. It is used to clear land and to assist in gardening tasks. This is an appropriate tool because it assists in making a better garden that will produce more crops. According to Midwest Gardening [1] cultivating has many benefits. They state that cultivating allows easier penetration of air, nutrients and water into the sun and wind dried soil. Cultivating also remove weeds that steal water and nutrients from the plants. Less supplemental watering is also a benefit gained from cultivating. By using a plastic tool, there is the benefit of the tool never rusting and allows for easy cleaning.

  1. If any changes to the design want to be done, open the SCAD file and adjust the parameters.
  2. Slicing instructions
    1. Fill % = 100
    2. Speed = 50 mm/sec
    3. Layer Height = .1 mm
    4. No support Needed
    5. Make sure prongs are facing up
  3. Print time with above settings will be about 13 Hours
  4. There is no assembly time

Common Problems and Solutions

  • A problem I had when printing my hand cultivator was warping and peeling off the bed during the print. If I were to print it again I would try using the brim feature to help reduce this problem.
