Fuel Container Restraint

Project developed by Trfranck

Template:Statusboxtop Template:Status-prototype You can help Appropedia by contributing to the next step in this OSAT's status. Template:Boxbottom

Abstract

  1. Paragraph description of the OSAT - why is it Appropriate? What need does it fulfil? Are there case studies you have found of a technology being used successfully?
  2. Picture of completed print using your printer

Bill of Materials

  1. Provide a full BOM -- Materials needed for fabrication of device and alternative materials if they are not available, prices/sources of non-printable parts
    1. Upload and link to all source files from open source CAD
    2. Upload and link to all STLs

Tools needed for fabrication of the OSAT

  1. MOST Delta RepRap or similar RepRap 3-D printer

Skills and Knowledge Necessary to Make the OSAT

  • Knowledge of Using Fasteners
    • Installation - Screw, Rivet, Bolt

Technical Specifications

Print Instructions

  • Print time estimate - 8.5hrs (Printing all four pieces at once)
  1. To ensure proper bed adhesion, the use of a brim or a raft is recommended. I had good results with a brim of 2mm.

Support material is not required.

Assembly Instructions

  • Assembly time estimate - 1hr (Dependant on fastener type)

Center
1. To determine the placement of the mounts, the container intended to be used is needed.
Center
2. Place the container in the desired location
Center
3. Use a straight edge and mark the edges of the container across the surface. This will help with step 10 to align the remaining corner pieces.
Center
4. Place one of the Fuel Container Restraint pieces at one of the corners of the container.
Center
5. The use of a straight edge is recommended to ensure symmetric alignment. Measure the distance
Center
6. Gently lift the container.
Center
7. Mark where the mounting holes are located with a marker.
Center
8. Remove the Fuel Container Restraint piece and drill out the marked holes.
Center
9. Use the desired fastener to secure the Fuel Container Restraint piece to the surface.
10. Repeat steps 4-9 for the remaining three pieces.
