In 2005 the UN carried out a Millennium Ecosystem Assessment. As a result of this there were identified 4 Ecosystem Services. Of these services the 4th was called Cultural Services:

  • cultural, intellectual and spiritual inspiration
  • recreational experiences (including ecotourism)
