Summary

Photo shows the back of the firebox during fabrication. The upright slot is where the flames enter the riser. The flames come through in a toroidal action mixing uncombusted gases with flames and more oxygen. The rectangular section secondary air inlet feeds hot air to the top of this slot providing extra oxygen to enhance the burn.
