With more than a hundred attorneys in offices across the country, Earthjustice pursues three key goals to secure a just, flourishing world:
Earth Justice is a Not For Profit public interest legal organization that broadly speaking addresses a wide range of environmental issues. Founded in 1971 it began as the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund and later changed it name to Earth Justice in 1997. Earth Justice acts as legal advocate and representative for hundreds of other environmental organizations, large and small across the United States and internationally.  They are based in San Francisco and have twelve regional offices across the United States.

THE WILD
==Program Areas==
Our nation’s laws protect the magnificent natural spaces and wildlife we have inherited from previous generations. Earthjustice enforces those laws to protect what we know to be irreplaceable wildlife and wild places, for this and future generations.
Earth Justice segments its work in to three core areas of focus:

HEALTHY COMMUNITIES
The Wild – encompasses the protection of any and all wildlife and natural spaces, more specifically the relationship between resource development and conservation. Work includes protection of endangered species and habitat loss.
We fight for a future where children can breathe clean air, no matter where they live; where products in our homes are free of toxic chemicals; and where all communities are safer, healthier places to live and work.

CLEAN ENERGY & A HEALTHY CLIMATE
Healthy Communities – as an advocate for healthy communities Earth Justice considers the dangers of pollution, whether it be from refineries, manufacturing or industrial facilities and any hazardous chemicals to ensure strict safeguards on air and water. Also includes legal reform to address sustainable agriculture and food.
Earthjustice’s legal victories strengthen the rise of clean energy, laying the groundwork for the systemic change we must see. At stake is nothing less than our children’s—and our planet’s—future.

Climate And Energy – supports actions and efforts to promote clean and renewable sources of energy and the transition away from a fossil fuel based economy. As a legal organization Earth Justice works through the courts and state and federal regulatory authorities to push for better energy efficiency and clean energy for all.
