Introduction

The following are proceedings from a breakout group at the Community Created Humboldt event on January 23rd, 2010.

Experiential Education & The Children Proceedings

  • apprenticeship; awareness; kids resource web-site
  • environmental classes specifically for living locally
  • engage in everything you do
  • awareness of problems; and importance/significance of education
  • lead by example; parenting classes
  • After school; community-based enrichment programs (energy, ag, building, etc.)
  • offer free bus for kids so they can get to programs (empowers them)
  • Kids resource web-site - Local programs; things to do; interactive: fun, games, video
  • Apprenticeship programs - Ashland model; career opportunities
