Cinnamon comes from the bark of trees belonging to the laurel family, tree species from the genus Cinnamomum.[1] Only some of these species are grown for commercial production of cinnamon.
Description
Cinnamon trees are evergreen. They are tropical trees that grow tall and and thick. It has pointed leaves which are very strong and smooth.
The tree has white flowers when flowering; the flowering is followed by the formation of dark blue berries.
It is the bark that is of most importance for human use of this tree; when ground, it produces a sweet, aromatic spice that is used in cuisine, scent and medicinal ways.

Uses of cinnamon
Cinnamon has many culinary uses and is enjoyed in many cuisines around the whole world.
Cinnamon can be purchased as quills and ground at home, or it can be purchased already ground, in powder form. If purchased already ground, it should be used within 6 months, to retain its freshness.
