Cayenne is usually referred to as cayenne pepper. Cayenne pepper comes from the cultivar of Capsicum annum, which is related to bell peppers and jalapeños.[1]
Cayenne is also known as Guinea spice, cow-horn pepper, red hot chili pepper, aleva, bird pepper and red pepper.[1]
Cayenne is the key ingredient in Tabasco sauce (and many other hot sauces) have cayenne in them. Hotter varieties of paprika may be derived from it.[2]
