Overview
By the time it enters the clarifier, large non-organic solids will have been removed from the influent wastewater already. The Clarifier further cleans the water in two ways: Sedimentation allows for suspended solids to settle and be collected at the bottom of the system while a skimmer removes those floating on the surface. The Clarifier also compacts the solids after removal, reducing dewatering and disposal costs of sludge. In addition there are a number of factors that must be considered that effect the sedementation process.
