Other examples[edit source]

Here and there, there are also useful projects at:

  • instructables
  • makezine

I'm guessing these could also be ported (eg for use at the projects list)

Regarding the encylopedia of life, I think it's best to simply link to relevant pages; the EOL database is simply to large to port, and if only a few pages are ported (eg of certain animals, plants, ...) they usually fall out of context, animals need to be seen in an ecosystem (ie a lot of animal species live together in the system, performing interactions unto each other, ...). I'm guessing your intent was to eg have the species listed here useful to projects (ie fish species in aquaculture, ...) However as described above, they can't be viewed seperatly (aquaculture systems also have several interactions, also species need to be chosen depending on the location; ie indiginous species)

instructables & makezine are very relevant, but not open licensed. They could be used as Appropedi:Open access, but that's less of a priority than if they were open licensed.
Good point about about EOL, but there are certainly times to describe a species, even if only in certain aspects that relate to the topic being discussed. EOL and Wikipedia would be good sources for that, but we can link back there for the full articles. --Chriswaterguy

Global development commons[edit source]

The site Global Development Commons seems to be gone as the page is just showing me a bluehost unconfigured page. Tahnok 17:18, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for spotting that - they've got a wiki at http://web.archive.org/web/20190903232009/http://developmentcommons.org/, but seems like nothing's happening. Funny that USAID would let a domain name lapse.
I've removed it - seems like the project never went anywhere--Chriswaterguy 21:39, 6 January 2011 (PST)
