The Appropedia Foundation, as allowed by GFDL 1.3, will transition its license from GFDL to CC-BY-SA at 12:01AM PDT on 21 April 2009 .

This change is in order to facilitate content sharing with other projects like Wikipedia, and Ekopedia (which are also migrating to this license).

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) has made specific provisions in the latest version of the Gnu Free Documentation License (GFDL) for this migration.

All the new changes will now be licensed under Creative Commons SA (also known as CC-BY-SA version 3.0). The detailed presentation of the license is available here.

What is a license

A license is a legal text defining the rights and duties associated with copyright. In Appropedia, content is the property of the respective authors. And as Appropedia is the result of thousands of contributions from thousands of users, Appropedia is your property.

Could we use a dual license?

The Appropedia Foundation favors a single license. For discussion of this issue, see mw:Talk:Licensing update/Questions and Answers #Disadvantages to dual-licensing?.
