Yam Barns 01.jpg

Yam is a stony hard bulbiferous vegetable with lots of nutritious value. Yam has dark-brown colored skin, and their pulp varies in color with maturity, such as yellow, purple, white, or pink. They look similar to the tubular sweet potatoes but are not the same.

Yams are starchy and have a rough, brown exterior. They can grow up to 45 feet long and are eaten in parts of Latin America, West Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia. 95% of the world's yams are grown in sub-Saharan Africa

Are yams healthy?

They're a great source of fiber, potassium, manganese, copper, and antioxidants. Yams are linked to various health benefits and may boost brain health, reduce inflammation, and improve blood sugar control. They're versatile, easy to prepare, and a great vegetable to include in your diet in both sweet and savory dishes.
