Winter squash ("pumpkin" in some locations including Australia) are an easy to grow vegetable, ideal for lazy gardening. Mainly grown for the fruit, which are mainly used as a vegetable.
Leaf tips can be cooked and eaten. Use about top 5 cm (2 in), or 2 leaf bracts. Harvest tip: if the stem snaps easily then its nice and tender.
The fruit are said to last longer if left on the vine until after the first frost.
