Hello everyone. So happy to find this page! We are new to farming and are located in Florida. We have 20 acres to develop. Our plan is to eventually have a winery with Estate bottled wine. Small and casual, no foo foo stuff here, very relaxed.
In addition to the vines,(Muscadine)for anyone interested, we also have 2 Yorkshire pigs, 5 Bourbon Red Heritage Turkey, (1 Tom and 4 Hens), 2 chickens (hens) (expanding that real soon), approximately 50 ducks, 2 dogs (rescues), Squints, our cat and 5 goats. We are also doing some raised bed gardens and a small botanical area. My husband and I are relatively new to gardening unconventionally but have spent endless hours reading and visiting neighboring farms. There is a lot of inspiration in this part of the process. Just wish the back, budget and time would all work in unison.
Our end goal is to have a wonderful place to visit where you can also purchase wine, fresh veggies, duck, chicken, eggs, goat cheese and more. The best part is everyday is a new adventure that brings new challenges to keep me interested.
Lots of blessings here so no complaints, just a little whining every once and awhile. Excited to find this great source of information and hope to learn a lot on this page. So nice to have a place to bounce questions. Please be patient with me for my excitement gets the best of me sometimes.
