Parameters[edit]

For each step[edit]

Specify a line of the following form for each step. Any value can be added or blank, but four pipes ("|") must be present.

|File:Filename |Caption |Step # |Step description
  • Filename is the image's file name. It can use a File: or an Image: prefix.
  • Caption is the caption (alt) text for the image, used by visually impaired and other readers who cannot see the image. If omitted, the image's caption text is blank.
  • Step # is the step number.
  • Step description is the step description about how to do something.

For the table overall[edit]

These parameters are optional.

title
The tables's title.
header1
(default Image) The table's first column (pics) header, whether it is displayed or not.
header2
(default Step) The table's second column header.
pics
(default yes) At least one image is included. Using pics=no removes the Images column.
size
(default 180x180) Maximum width or height of each image. A single number, e.g., 180, specifies the maximum width of images.
footer
Adds a footer to the table.

Combining the "How to" and "Gallery" templates[edit]

It also is possible to include multiple images per step by using {{Gallery}} in combination with this template, as shown below.
