The final goal of this project was to provide a refuge for homeless senior citizens within the compound of the Parras Desarollo Integral de la Familia (DIF) so that they can find shelter and companionship, as integration of the family and community is an important part of the Parras culture.
The DIF wanted to construct a space for the viejitos of Parras who do not have families to be able to relax and enjoy a meal and the company of others, and enlisted the help of the HSU Parras program.
Drip Irrigation Stake assembly.jpg
The OSAT is Drip irrigation assembly combining the stake and drip emitter with tubing. The drip irrigation system has been around for years, but this is the first of its kind to be 3D printed.

The Flock House project is a concept to provide a new form of housing for different migrating populations throughout the world.
Geared-up Final Design Labeled.jpg
The “Flock Pods” are intended to be renewable homesteads. Most food and energy needs will be generated through the “Flock Pods” internal system, and the rest through community support
The objective is to design a power meter which displays two types of data: the status of the battery and the power generated by volunteers for the Flock House. The display must be clearly visible from at least 20 feet and be visually appealing to the public.

Printed splitter.jpg
This OSAT is a garden hose splitter that can be used to split water streams from a common garden hose nozel. This splitter can be customized to any desired size, and can be paired with multiples of itself to further increase splitage.
Garden water sprinkler.jpg
This garden water sprinkler can be easily used to sprinkle water on a certain given region of garden by inserting a jet stream of water.
Light Attachment.jpg
The need that this fulfills is to provide light to any area without the need for a power/electrical hookup, as well as possibly providing a way to charge a phone in a certain situation.
The house already operating with a grey water system will be able to conserve water by controlling how much water is used and where it drains to.

This project is designed so that it could be used for tracking the sun light and convert it to electrical power using the solar panel.
Wheel hoes are fantastic labor savors in larger gardens and organic farming.
Finished Composter.JPG
The objective of this project is to build a compost system for the WCIA that will handle their green waste materials, as well as provide a nutrient source for their on site community gardens.
Our objective for the water project for the 2014 Practivistas Dominicana Program in La Yuca is to replace the flat piping system, used to catch rainwater runoff from the roof, with a gutter that will obtain more water.
LaYucaRainwaterCatchment2012 WaterSampleForTesting.jpg
The objective of this project is to provide inexpensive potable water and water for cleaning to the local school in La Yuca, Santo Domingo by use of rainwater catchment. Replacing purchased water with captured water may allow funds to be allocated for other important services.
The objective is to fix the ecoladrillo schoolroom by adding a new plaster to the walls, fixing the floor, and fixing the ventilation of the room using natural building techniques.

The objective of this project is to improve upon the previous summer’s project. The turbine design will be altered so that it may be more efficient and safe. Energy generated by the system will be used to light a classroom in La Yuca.
The purpose of this project is to create a low embedded energy, natural, beautiful way to cook pizza.
This micro water turbine can be paired with a DC generator for power generation applications. The micro design allows for the turbine to be extremely portable and light weight, allowing for power to be available to remote areas.
Water Wheel.jpg
This is a cross-flow turbine, essentially a water wheel turned by naturally flowing water to produce energy. Unlike a dam, or a mill wheel this is very small, more used in smaller streams and such.
Micro-Turbine 2.JPG
This is a cross-flow turbine, basically a water wheel turned by stream to produce energy. This would used in developing areas around the world because it is much cheaper and less time consuming to make. The material cost of this turbine itself is significantly reduced using 3D-printing.

Custom Pegboard Panels.jpg
The modular pegboard is designed to replace more costly methods of tool storage. This pegboard can be used to expand an existing pegboard since it will work with standard 1/8 inch pegboard attachments.
FlyWheel Firestarter PrimitiveTechnology2.PNG
With this tool and a skilled user, many fires could be started much quicker and the user would have no blisters. The scad file can be customized for most sticks, and rope can be hand woven from plant fiber. Picture of completed print coming soon. The above image is from the inspiration video.
Newspaper Briquette Maker Prototype.jpg
This design was created to be used anywhere with a semi-flat surface and by a significantly larger range of people. This project uses plastic and a open-source 3D printer and software.
Final Maker with Briquettes.jpg
Fulfills need to turn waste newspaper and other light paper products into small burnable briquettes. This helps to turn waste in to a usable fuel source, and also allows the paper to burn much longer and more efficiently than just burning the unprocessed paper.
This megaphone is OSAT appropriate because there are practical uses for such a device in developing countries. A few examples would be alerting others to danger, or speaking to a crowd of people, or cheering during a sports match.
The pedal is intended as usable substitute for a factory bike pedal, though not totally equivalent.
A Wind turbine bade
First, this will be useful in education, where protractors can be used to help teach geometric concepts. Additionally, they can be used in construction to make sure angle measurements are made accurately. Both of these purposes could be quite useful to a growing country.
3D printed water pump.jpg
My design uses a 3D printable pump to allow the user to pump the water out. This has several advantages. It allows better control of the amount of water being used and therefore has the potential to decrease water usage meaning that you will need to fill your bucket less often.
The combination of open-source software and hardware provide technically feasible methods to create low-cost, highly-customized scientific research equipment.
The trowel is a simple design that can be easily changed through it's FreeCAD file and it is designed to be printed without the use of support material to save plastic
Ricer1 1.JPG
This design is a 3D printed potato ricer. Potato ricers work by extruding cooked potato (or possibly other starch rich foods) through small holes. This creates a lighter fluffier finished product than conventional mashing. This works by trapping air along with the potato during extrusion.
The Raspberry Pi is an affordable computing solution, with the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, power supply, and MicroSD card for OS costing a total of $60
Saline Filter.jpg
The idea of evaporating sea water in order to turn it into freshwater has been around for centuries or more. The technology has been used on ocean-going vessels that often spend months at sea without access to freshwater.
Snow Shovel Printable Outdoors.jpg
This project consists of multiple components that can be assembled into a full scale snow shovel. Some commercial shovels are very expensive, and their only purpose is to pick up snow and place it somewhere else.
This shovel was designed to be a tool that can be fully modulated for the users current needs and environment. Shovels are used everywhere and are almost a necessity if moving large amounts of something dirt like. This shovel can be fully 3D printed if necessary.
3D snowshoe.jpg
This allows for easier movement across powdered snow, without taking a lot of effort to pull your foot out of knee deep snow with every step. This snowshoe design allows someone to print a snowshoe on a 3D printer that utilizes a 1/2" tubing for the outer support, and twine for the straps. All of these supplies are fairly cheap and easy to transport.
