Portal talk:Portals

From Appropedia
Jump to: navigation, search

To do[edit]

  • Backlink from each portal
  • Add icon for each portal (e.g. an apple for food, a river for water)
  • Add a blurb for each portal

This is just a start, probably not all that useful yet. delldot talk 11:40, 23 August 2008 (PDT)

Is category tree useful?[edit]

Would using CategoryTree on portal pages be useful? See the example to the right.

Cool, I never knew about this. Yeah, I think it would be really useful, especially with the larger portals like food and agriculture. delldot talk 20:46, 23 August 2008 (PDT)
We are currently using it on the portals, e.g. Portal:Food_and_Agriculture#See_also... but I thought we might like a prettier version, or to use it on the portal of the portals. Thanks, --Lonny 21:09, 23 August 2008 (PDT)
Yeah, I think it'd be good here; it'd make it more of a central place to navigate from. delldot talk 21:37, 23 August 2008 (PDT)
Another attempt at a layout for portals is at Portal:Green living and Portal:Appropriate technology - these rely heavily on the category tree. It could still do with work though. --Chriswaterguy 23:15, 23 August 2008 (PDT)

Whoops[edit]

Just noticed Appropedia:CategoryTree, same idea as here. Maybe a merge here or there? delldot talk 21:44, 23 August 2008 (PDT)

This is specifically for portals, intended as landing pages - the other is for categories. You're right, though, they're very similar. Will think on it. --Chriswaterguy 23:12, 23 August 2008 (PDT)
