Brown Pelican,taken by Dustin Poppendieck

Brown Pelican:Pelecanus occidentails:" Pelicans have a large "pouch" on their bill which enables them to scoop up fish while flying. They are often seen flying over the bay waters, and some times fly in V-formation with others of their species. The Brown Pelican was also once threated with extinction by DDT. They can usually be seen during the summer and fall months."[1]
