Background[edit | edit source]
Matthew M. Kim is currently a junior at Catholic Central High School in London, Ontario, where he has plans to study engineering in his post-secondary education. Matthew is a Co-op student of the Free Appropriate Sustainable Technology (FAST) group at Western University's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department run by Dr. Joshua Pearce. His current research is focused on improving an a Multi-Material Peristaltic Pump-Based Food 3-D Printer.
At Catholic Central, Matthew has also been building his skills in engineering, being a member of the Robotics Team where he has competed in several VEX Robotics Competitions. Additionally, he has participated in several coding competitions including The ECOO-CS Programming Contest, where Catholic Central came 1st place in the school board (LDCSB) and the Waterloo Canadian Computing Contest (CCC). Through these experiences, Matthew developed engineering skills and has built a genuine passion for engineering. Outside of academics, Matthew enjoys playing sports, especially basketball and tennis and enjoys listening to and playing music.
