Projects[edit | edit source]
1. Hydrogen Generation System Modeling and Simulation Using Photovoltaic Systems[edit | edit source]
- Developed the MATLAB code for modeling of the Photovoltaic systems used for generating electricity
- Modeled the electrolyser and H2 storage tank and integrated both using Simulink to produce H2
- Assessed the feasibility of H2 generation plant at different locations across the USA using NREL data
2. Automatic Generation Control of Interconnected Power System Network[edit | edit source]
- Built single area, two areas and three areas interconnected power system network in Simulink
- Performed the primary frequency regulation for the above mentioned interconnected areas
- Improved the frequency regulation by inserting secondary loop into the system with varying loads
3. Congestion Management of Deregulated Market Using Distributed Generation(DG)[edit | edit source]
- Built IEEE-14 Bus system in Powerworld simulator and ran base case DCOPF to find congestion
- Applied different methods to find the optimal location for DG placement in the system and compared
- Calculated optimal size of the DG considering cost and system efficiency in mind
4. Power Quality Improvement in Distribution Network Using Synchronous Switching[edit | edit source]
- Built the capacitor and transformer switching circuits in ATP for distribution network
- Persuaded capacitor and transformer switching using different switching techniques and compared
- Enhanced the power quality for capacitor banks and transformers using appropriate switching methods
5. Applications of Geographic Information System(GIS)[edit | edit source]
- Examined the use of GIS in distribution system planning and designing to reduce the complexity of the system
- Investigated how GIS helps to monitor the distribution system efficiently and reliably
- Diagnosed the use of GIS to make the energy auditing and accounting efficiency faster and easier
6. Life Cycle Assessment of Onshore and Offshore Sited Wind Turbines[edit | edit source]
- Performed the Life Cycle Assessment for both the wind turbines to find the environmental impacts of both during their entire life cycle for manufacturing, transportation, dismentaling and scrapping
- Calculated Energy Balance of both for their entire life span, so that it gives an idea about the energy pay back time
7. Simulation of Power transformer Protection using Micro-controller relay[edit | edit source]
Power transformers are key components for electrical energy transfer in a Power system. In order to protect the transformers from these faults different protective methods are adopted. Some of them are differential protection, over excitation Protection, etc. In this project Over Voltage protection is established for the protection of the transformer. Micro controller is used for the Power Transformer Protection as a relay. It will sense the fault due to over voltage of about +/- 5% and send trip signal to the relay driver circuit and the power transformer will automatically get isolated from the system. The Simulation circuit is designed in Proteus Software and analyzed successfully. The Programming is also done accordingly.
