Wireless electricity or witricity is useful where interconnecting wires are inconvenient or hazardous.

Efficiency is critical to good design and economical operation. Methods include:

  • Direct induction, (most common, widely used for electric kettles and for charging electric toothbrushes)
  • Resonant magnetic induction
  • Electrical conduction via contact points
  • Electromagnetic radiation in the form of microwaves or lasers
